Union Leader - Gore’s prize: A fraud on the people - Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007
Alfred Nobel felt horrible about the uses to which his invention — dynamite — was put. So he endowed the Nobel Peace Prize and instructed that it go “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”
Al Gore has done exactly none of those things.

Baseball on TV, Halloween on all the shelves. If it weren’t for the above average highs during the day it would be fantastic. Soon.
The altar can’t wait any longer, so load her up with the juju.
My cupcakes wouldn’t have taken such a nasty spill had I been in good with the spooky ones.

This is one of the tastiest liquors I’ve ever had. Good cherry flavor, not sour. A deep flavor that warms all the way down. Very good for sipping and would probably lend itself well to desserts.
Over a rich chocolate cake. Yes. Oh yes.

Walgreens.com - Local Weekly Ad
A teenager in line at Walgreens, with her Grandmother, points her bony, hairless arm at a particularly ghoulish ghoul hanging from the ceiling.
With much malice she biles out,
“That looks just like MOM.”
The grandmother hangs her head down and says sadly “oh, Hayley.”

So the other day I’m in my local Circle K buying beverages and smokes. Circle K in Phoenix in the summer typically has an assortment of beer in small coolers near the checkout, and this one is no exception. Typically 24oz cans of Bud, Bud Light, maybe some Steel Reserve High Gravity Lager or Mickey’s Bigmouth. But on this fateful day, there was a new cerveza en la ciudad: Chelada!

Bud Light and Clamato! How could I resist that magical combination of thin beer, tomato juice, and clam broth? More pictures after the jump…

Signs and Wonders of the Autumnal Equinox. The right place at the right time and Jeemy snapped the Lord out on his porch.
Jeemy says: “That’s the front doors of All Saints. What I liked was the sun
cutting Jesus in half on the equinox. Well, I thought of the equinox
stuff after I got home, but it was the light/dark half dead Jesu who
caught my eye. Pretty!”
Witness for yourself

Naomi Wolf: Fascist America, in 10 easy steps | Special reports | Guardian Unlimited
“It is my argument that, beneath our very noses, George Bush and his administration are using time-tested tactics to close down an open society. It is time for us to be willing to think the unthinkable - as the author and political journalist Joe Conason, has put it, that it can happen here. And that we are further along than we realise.”
“Conason eloquently warned of the danger of American authoritarianism. I am arguing that we need also to look at the lessons of European and other kinds of fascism to understand the potential seriousness of the events we see unfolding in the US.”
Naomi goes on to name the ten steps that have indeed already been put into motion.
