According to a New Scientist report, the case fatality rate for SARS is now between 7% and 10%. However, these may be optimistic figures. If you’re a pessimist, have a look at just the “resolved” cases. They show a mortality rate between 13% and 18%.
If you’re starting to worry, check the map and see if SARS is sweeping your neighborhood. If it is, I strongly recommend putting on a good Nyquil buzz tonight!

The Capital City’s Newspaper Online-Baghdad
Could you please, just for a minute or two, think about what it’s like when your water has been shut off for a few hours while the sprinklers got fixed?
How many times you went to wash your hands or flush the toilet and there was no water? How about that hot shower you don’t pay too much attention to?
Even after years of survivalist training I cannot imagine going without running water for three weeks. Just give it a minute or two to consider what hell that must be like.

Wayne Madsen: Bush’s “Christian” Blood Cult
…and the Pope don’t like it. Is Georgie the anti-christ? If this buffoon is the anti-christ it makes me wonder what the second coming of Jesus will be personified as. I get images of Carl from Slingblade. “French fried potators, the body, mmm hmmm. mustard on biscuits, the blood, grrrmmmhhhmmmm”

NASA Science News
“Normally, our star, like Earth itself, has a north and a south magnetic pole. But for nearly a month beginning in March 2000, the Sun’s south magnetic pole faded, and a north pole emerged to take its place. The Sun had two north poles.”
