From the Farmer’s Almanac

“St. Luke’s Little Summer is a period of summerlike days that occurs around October 18, named to honor the saint’s feast day. In olden days, St. Luke’s Day did not receive as much attention in the secular world as St. John’s Day (June 24) and Michaelmas (September 29), so to keep from being forgotten, St. Luke presented us with some golden days to cherish before the coming of winter — or so the story goes. Some folks call this Indian summer, but that officially occurs between November 11 and November 20.”

David Icke dropped from awards show; lizard people to blame?

0

one of the first depictions of lizard people in the mass mediaDavid Icke has been dropped as an award presenter for the UK Urban Music Awards scheduled on November 3rd in London:

“TV commissioning editors were worried about the reaction from the sponsors of the event due to the controversial opinions the former TV sports commentator and footballer has.”

The show is sponsored by Kickers shoes, a company that does NOT offer anything in snakeskin. Coincidence? I think not!

Bonus: Channel 5 (UK) documentary on David Icke is available in its entirety from Google Video, both for online viewing and download.

New ATA is a big boost for SETI

1

scialien112.jpgThe first 42 dishes in the Allen Telescope Array came online last week, and are now collecting data for SETI. The array is located in Hat Creek, CA, and will eventually have 350 dishes scanning for signs of extraterrestrial life. The array is also performing some traditional radio astronomy for UC Berkeley. There’s an official press release from SETI, and news coverage from the Redding Record Searchlight and the Daily Telegraph.

Seth Shostack (SETI’s senior astronomer) described the ultimate vision for the ATA:

“The Allen Telescope Array will be like 200 million Jodie Fosters sitting out there listening”

Paul Allen put up the initial $25 million to get the site up and running, and it’ll take another $41 million to get the rest of the planned dishes built. Any Jodie Foster fans got a few million burning a hole in their pocket?

Union Leader – Gore’s prize: A fraud on the people – Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007

Alfred Nobel felt horrible about the uses to which his invention — dynamite — was put. So he endowed the Nobel Peace Prize and instructed that it go “to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.”

Al Gore has done exactly none of those things.

Baseball on TV, Halloween on all the shelves. If it weren’t for the above average highs during the day it would be fantastic. Soon.

The altar can’t wait any longer, so load her up with the juju.

My cupcakes wouldn’t have taken such a nasty spill had I been in good with the spooky ones.

This is one of the tastiest liquors I’ve ever had. Good cherry flavor, not sour. A deep flavor that warms all the way down. Very good for sipping and would probably lend itself well to desserts.

Over a rich chocolate cake. Yes. Oh yes.
