Martin Luther Gene obviously knows nothing about the venues he speaks derisively about - Seating capacity in most of them is higher than the ONE U.S. venue mentioned. The Credit Union Centre alone holds more than the Mandalay Bay Events Centre in Vegas where JP played on their last tour.

If you are going to claim the lyrics to Nostradamus are “silly” you may want to make sure you know what the lyrics are. The lyric is not “he’s our man” it is “Nostradamus is avenged” WOW! looks like you just had your own Spinal tap moment. HELLO Cleveland!!

More on the balloon and flare hoax theory: Phoenix man: Neighbor caused Monday's mysterious lights

Lino Mailo, 44, said he saw his neighbor launch several helium balloons with flares attached to them from the back porch of his north Phoenix home. Mailo said the balloons took off about 8 p.m., right before the mysterious lights were spotted.

Couple of items from the Phoenix New Times today. First, Air Traffic Controllers Who Saw UFO Muzzled by FAA:

Air traffic controllers in the main tower of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport saw last night's bizarre spectacle of red lights flying across North Valley skies, but the Federal Aviation Administration won't let them talk to the media. Ian Gregor, FAA regional spokesman, says the agency's policy won't allow controllers to comment even if they want to relate their experience.

Second, Chopper Pilot Says UFOs probably balloons with flares. In this one, there are a few folks saying this event was just balloons with flares attached. However, there's more food for paranoid cover-up thoughts:

Phoenix police said earlier today they would allow the media to interview pilot Bruce Bates, who claims to have had a good view of the mysterious lights observed and photographed by residents in the North Valley. Police spokeswoman Stacie Derge later canceled the meeting...

It is a sad day as I was checking in on some of my favorite radio hosts from Phoenix and came across this site when trying to find out more about the passing of John. I grew up in Arizona. I graduated high school in Phoenix and enlisted in the Marine Corps therafter. I returned to Phoenix in 1990 in my return civilian life and became a fan of John Dayl’s radio show. As others have noted, John’s candor and his plain spoken approach was what kept me listening. His personality and that warm deep voice made me feel like I was listening to my grandfather tell stories. I moved away from Phoenix for good in 1994 and moved several times since, now (hopefully) permanently to Northern Wisconsin. I still check up on John and Bob and some of my other favorites. I wanted to share with you all the affection and remembrance of a truly gifted radio host. God Speed John!
