1. I think its all very simple. Phoenix is surrounded by huge military airbases and it also sees an increasing amount of commercial traffic.

   More than that, the city is most likely home to a complex system of flightpaths for aircrafts heading to the east or the west coast.

   Speaking of which, does anyone know when America West will be receiving its first Airbus A318s, the PW6000 powered birds?

   Let me explain. Vapour trails are the result of jet engines injecting hot exhaust water vapour into the cold troposphere. Ice crystals develop given the right conditions. With time, vapour trails spread apart and evaporate.

   Conditions change, which is why you may observe a lot of vapour trails one some days, and none on others. The appearance of ‘vapour trails’ depends on the climate and the time of year. Vapour trails appear at a certain temperature, and not nessecarily at a certain height. Even if you see no vapour trails, the aircraft will still be flying above you, but leaving no visible trace.

4. This is very interesting and what I’d like to find out now is what are the conditions that would lead to this so that I can compare weather at the time of these trails and the criteria for making them.
   We’re open to these being perfectly natural by-products of our space age world, in fact, we hope they are, but so far the information I’m gathering leans more to the “chemtrail” theory.
   Usual Con pollution or Conspiracy, we just want to know what they are.

5. I am researcing the area to properly provide alienjesus with an answer (not nessecarily THE answer) and will return to the subject with an extensive report either here or on notaw.com. In the mean time, could you make some observations for me concerning the density of the vapour trails?

   The denser they are, the higher up the aircraft flies. For instance, max cruise height for 737s and 747s is around 41-42000 feet. Airbus aircraft generally cruise slighly lower at 37.000 - 38.000 feet, again all this depends on the specific fuel configuration. Anything flying higher than 42.000 feet is most likely military. Sometimes you can even make out how many engines the aircraft may have by looking at its vapour trail.

   Anyway, more later. If you want detailed information about the current flying condition in the Phoenix area this is a good starting point.

7. I always find myself asking.. how come those kooks know that planes make them things.. they live next to the airport. But upon hearing Brother notaw explain it.. IT’S CONSPIRACY I TELL YOU…
