actually i do not see how that is true since teflon is a non toxic polymer.

Sure, Teflon is a non-toxic polymer at room temperature. But heat it past 500 degrees Farenheit and it starts outgassing with toxic fumes. Teflon is a safe container for burning books, but get it hotter and you’ll poison yourself and anyone else in the vicinity.
