"For the discriminating paratheologist"
My Soul Delights
Mercury had gone direct after midnight at the Command and the temps were in the mid 70s, sky so clear and bright with stars it felt almost too perfect, like watching from the inside of a planeterium without the Led Zepplin.
I wanted a baked potato and grabbed Ed and took off to the 24 Hour Albertson’s. It was after 4am and we should be the only menaces out.
We listened to Coast to Coast on the way over, Peter Davenport on the UFOs and we kept looking up because the sky was ripe for viewing. No UFOs as we pulled into the completely empty parking lot. well not completely empty, one lone car sat there, with an enormous chocolate lab mix crammed into the back of this compact car. He didnt’ so much look at me as regarded me, he made me know that staring was impolite. I said a few “what a handsome doggy” and was headed in as one guy was headed out. I figured he must be the partner and said “that your dog in the car?” He said a quick “yeah” as he sped up his steps and I laughed and said “dog listening to coast to coast, that’s cool” and he laughed and kept going. I was going to ask him if the Dog was looking forward to Art being back tomorrow night doing the weekend slot but he was gone, eager to get back to his pal. or away from me. Fellow Coast to Coast listener? come on, we’re all pals. Anyway, gorgeous, smart dog who had a nice enough keeper to leave the radio on for him, and a good show at that.
It just delighted me to the core.
now I’m going to have that baked potato.
